To wit, this is Davis this week.

Behold, the gamut of cold, wet, and miserable!

And observe, the weather report from my hometown down in southern California.

Lo! The beauty of consistency, purity, everlasting warmth.

It makes me weep, truly. Ah, the gnashing of teeth…

Also. I killed five ladybugs the other day. Maybe more. The grass is just full of them these days.

Here is the only survivor.

So I was in this dressing room yesterday and overheard a conversation between a girl and a guy. It went something like this:

Girl: Oh my god, I look so good in this. I wish my boyfriend could see me.

Boy: Yeah, it’s too bad his eye got pecked out by that chicken.

WTH.

Since no one else seems to be updating this baby, I’ll take the (albeit much delayed) initiative here so you can all envy me my fantastic life in the sticks. Apologies if the updates are sporadic. Law school is surprisingly busier than I expected. Am starting my third week of law school post-Labor Day, which is supposedly around the time I start getting the hang of a lot of useful things. Things like time management (negatory), amazingly inconvenient narcolepsy when the professor(s) is staring at you (negatory again), reading comprehension (horrifically negatory), note-taking (passable), speaking not-like-a-retard in class (futile endeavor), losing other peoples’ bikes (am actually very good at this), getting lost repeatedly in a town 2 miles long (sigh), and getting boba every day of the week (have only missed two days thus far! The key is to hook other people who will take you with them).

Some facts that have comprised my life these past three weeks:

I got stuck in traffic behind a tractor (pinnacle of Davis, seriously).

There was an encounter with a Missing Chicken poster, $50 reward. Actually, no, this is Davis in a picture. I wish I took one.

When making friends, the key is to buy a pizza and share it with people who only bought beer. (100% success rate. Nursing a beer will get you nowhere.)

I can lose anything. Lost my phone thrice, also lost my iPod somewhere. And let’s not even mention my bike(s), my bike key(s), my house key(s), being the world’s worst roommate and waking her up at 2AM, losing every single one of my roommates’ (all three of them) bikes within 2 weeks, the list actually gets depressingly long so I’ll stop here. You get the idea.

About bikes. I hate them. They’re not half as convenient as people make them out to be. A mutual relationship full of pain and ill-repressed fury. Hilarious on retrospect, I had a meltdown last week about it. I really did.

There is also a spot on my nose that is threatening to break off and form its own country. I’ve named it California (upgraded from Malta, which is an island), because it’s the 8th biggest economy in the world and won’t go away no matter how much junk I dump on it.

And… since everyone finds text boring, here’s some pictures for you. I don’t take that many pictures though. The quality is bad. Blame the iPhone.

If I have time this weekend (unlikely), I’ll work on Europe next. Until then, mon amis, adieu! Back to studying civil procedure, which is one of those boring, necessary things one must do in order to progress in life (much like learning Excel, how to change a Brita filter, learning and actually applying bike signals…)

On a more positive note, I had Ikea Swedish meatballs for dinner (How to Feed 5 People on Just $10! + rice  + gravy + kimchi + Thrifty chocolate malt crunch) and I’m eating leftover fondue fruit. The only thing dampening my moment of happiness is the fact that it’s 2AM and I haven’t started my readings (a very big dampener).

Did you know today’s 09/09/09? It’s probably not as interesting as the fact that 9/11 is coming around again, but I thought it worth a mention.
